OGDEN, Utah – Utah Musical Theatre has announced the dates for its final round of auditions for the 2006 season and is looking to hire local performers.
Roles are still available in all three shows scheduled for this summer, “Two by Two” and “Dames at Sea” (presented in repertory) and the Utah premiere of “Songs for a New World.” Casting for “Songs for a New World” has been expanded to add six to eight versatile dancers who have choral vocal ability.
UMT will hold final auditions from 1-8 p.m. on March 11. Final dance auditions for the season will be held March 25, with initial auditions from 5-7 p.m. and dance callbacks scheduled from 7:30-11 p.m. All auditions will be held in Room 38 of the Val A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts on Weber State University’s Ogden campus.
Visit weber.edu/umt for casting breakdowns and company/contracting information. Auditions are by appointment until March 11, then open slots will be available on a first come, first served basis (Actor’s Equity Association members seen first, nonunion as time/space permits).
Those interested in auditioning for the 2006 season should prepare one contemporary comic monologue (1-2 minutes) that demonstrates movement and physicality and two song cuttings (prepare 32 bars each, expect to perform 16 bars) of contrasting tone in styles consistent with our season selections. An accompanist will be provided.
Dance auditions will consist of advanced tap and jazz. UMT is also interested in performers with experience in acrobatics, tumbling and stunting.
All positions are paid. For more information or to schedule an appointment, contact Becca in the UMT office at (801) 626-7775. Visit weber.edu/umt for more information about Utah Musical Theatre and the 2006 season.
