OGDEN, Utah – Quartetto Gelato will bring their distinct style of chamber music to Utah for a one-night-only engagement, February 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Weber State University’s Val A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts.
The Canadian quartet’s repertoire includes tangos, opera arias, Gypsy music, traditional folk songs and Mozart’s Oboe Quartet. Their presentation blends casual attire, and free-wheeling energy with the deadpan delivery of Jack Benny.
Since their debut in 1994, Quartetto Gelato has taken their music seriously without taking themselves seriously, defying conventional ideas of chamber music. With a reputation for sparkling technique, musical finesse and humor, the group establishes a rapport with traditional and non-traditional classical music audiences alike.
The concert, presented by Weber State’s Cultural Affairs Series, will include selections from the quartet’s most recent compact disc, “Neopolitan Café.”
Tickets for Quartetto Gelato are $10 general and $8 senior/students and are available from the Dee Events Center ticket office: (801) 626-8500 or 1-800-WSU-TIKS.
