Professor, Nun to Present Sisters of St. Benedict History

January 20, 2010

Weber State University history professor Kathryn MacKay and Sister Luke Hoschette will present “The Sisters of St. Benedict: A History Through Photographs” on Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. in the Lindquist Alumni Center.

The Sisters of St. Benedict have had a presence in Weber County since the 1940s, operating a hospital, nursing school and monastery. The hospital was sold in the 1990s and the nursing school became part of WSU, but the Mount Benedict Monastery continues to play a significant role in the community. The sisters contribute their time and resources to many education, health care and social justice efforts in the area.

The lecture, which is sponsored by the Weber Historical Society, is free. For more information, call 801-626-6706.
