Getting Started

If you cannot get in or need to request access

  • You must be a current student (enrolled in classes for the current semester)
  • You must be a WSU employee
  • If you are having trouble accessing the Virtual Lab please call 801.626.7777

The first time you use the virtual lab you will need to install a client

  1. The client allows your drives to be mapped so you can save your work to your workstation or flash drive. It also allows you to print to your printer
  2. Make sure popups are enabled.
  3. If you are planning to save your work to a flash drive make sure to plug it in before logging in.
  4. Follow the instructions (if you already have the client installed from a previous class your old client will be removed and the new client will be installed.
  5. Login using your eWeber login and password,
  6. Click on the software you plan to use
  7. If you see a popup request you to allow access say yes and "never ask me again"
  8. Your application will then open

If your instructor gave you a file to work on

  1. Click on the file name
  2. When asked if you want to open or save: Select Save As
  3. To save to your workstation
    1. Go to "My Computer" select your machines hard drive
  4. To save to Flash Drive
    1. Go to "My Computer" select your flash drive

Opening your saved file

  1. login to the Virtual lab
  2. Click on the application
  3. go to File, Open
  4. Find where you saved your file
    1. If on C drive
      1. go to "My Computer"
      2. Click the drive letter
      3. Find your file
    2. If on Flash Drive
      1. go to "My Computer"
      2. Click on your flash drive
        1. If you don't know which drive is your flash drive
        2. go to Start, My Computer look for your flash drive and make a note of the drive letter (E, F, . . . . )
        3. Close "My Computer on your Workstation.
      3. Go back to application
      4. "My Computer, click on your flash drive, and Open

Saving your work (from most applications)

  1. Go to File, Save As
  2. Windows:
    1. Option 1 save to workstation then to flash drive
      1. Click on "My Computer"
      2. Find your workstations drive, give your file a name and save
      3. Later when you are ready to save to your Flash drive
        • Go to Start, My Computer, C drive
        • Find your file and drag to your flash drive
    2. Option 2 save directly to flash drive
      1. Click on "My Computer"
        • If you don't know which drive is your flash drive
        • go to Start, My Computer look for your flash drive and make a note of the drive letter (E, F, . . . . )
        • Close "My Computer on your Workstation.
      2. Find your flash drive letter
      3. Give your file a name and save
If you can access the Virtual Lab on campus but are having problems elsewhere:  make sure there is no firewall blocking your use of the virtual lab. (Hospitals, HAFB and some businesses) Also many office machines will not allow you to install the client please check with your company network administrator.
