Cisco Certification

Interested in Cisco Certification?

The Department of Telecommunications & Business Education (TBE) is offering a series of courses required for CCNA Certification (CCNA = Certified Cisco Network Associate)  taught by Cisco Certified Academy instructors. Weber State University is the Regional Networking Academy for the state of Utah, Southern Idaho, and Eastern Wyoming.

Why Cisco Certification?

Employers worldwide are looking for highly trained networking experts who can keep up with the latest technologies in order to maximize performance while keeping networking costs down. In order to keep up with demand, Cisco Systems, a market leader in switching and routing equipment, offers a number of certification programs. These programs and certifications prepare students to become a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). This certification will enable students to install, configure, and operate complex local area networks (LANs), routed wide area networks (WANs) and switched LANs.

The certification program at Weber State University is offered in partnership with Cisco Systems through a program called Networking Academy. Students who graduate after completing two semesters of the Cisco Networking Academy will have the expertise necessary to pass the CCNA and Network + certification exams.

Yes, if your primary objective is CCNA certification only, then there are a number of alternatives. These include self-study programs and private training institutions, and CCNA workshops offered through WSU Continuing Education.

Is this a difficult program?
The program is not any more difficult than other networking and telecom classes offered through Weber State University. A list of CCNA study objectives are available on the Cisco web page.

Is it correct that you must take the classes in a specific order and it will take two semesters to complete the first series?
TBE
2415 (routing) must be taken prior to TBE 2435 (switching).
