BS or BA Degree, Business Education Composite Teaching Major

Program Prerequisite

Completion or equivalent of a Weber State AAS Degree in Business/Multimedia Technologies. Composite Teaching Emphasis majors must satisfy Teacher Education admission and certification requirements (see Teacher Education Department).

Grade Requirements
 
A grade of "C-" or better in courses required for this major in addition to an overall GPA in TBE courses of 2.50 or higher. An overall GPA of 3.00 is required for admission to the Teacher Education program.
 
Credit Hour Requirements
 
A total of 120-126 credit hours is required for graduation. A total of 40 upper-division credit hours is required (courses numbered 3000 and above) -- all of these credit hours are required within the major.

Business Education  Teaching Emphasis students should meet with a faculty advisor for course and program advisement. Teaching majors should also consult with an advisor in the Jerry and Vickie Moyes College of Education (call 801-626-6269).

Admission Requirements

Complete the AAS Degree in Business/Multimedia Technologies or equivalent. Declare your program of study. Composite Teaching majors must also satisfy Teacher Education admission and certification requirements (see Teacher Education Department).

General Education

Refer to General Requirements for either Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts requirements. The following courses required for the Business Education teaching major will also satisfy general education requirements: ChFam SS1500, Comm HU1050, and Econ SS1010.

Course Requirements for BS or BA Degree

To be taken in addition to the requirements for the AAS Degree in Business/Multimedia Technologies.

Specific Major Courses Required

  • TBE 3600* Principles of Business/Marketing Ed (2)
  • TBE 3610* Methods of Teaching Business/Marketing Education Subjects (3)
* Must be taken prior to student teaching.
 
Secondary Education Requirements for the Jerry and Vickie Moyes College of Education must also be met. (36-40 credit hours)
 
TBE 3250, Business Communication (3), will meet the Comm HU1020 requirement for Teacher Education Certification.
