This is a non-credit 10 session workshop which will teach you how to read more efficiently, with better comprehension. To help increase your reading speed, you will learn to use your hand as a pacer and to focus on groups of words rather than one word at a time. To improve comprehension, you will learn techniques such as previewing, skimming, and scanning.
We will begin with easy reading material and progress to college-level reading. If you practice, you will be able to read faster than you do now. However, you should expect your reading rate to vary depending on what you are reading (i.e. fiction vs. non-fiction) and your purpose for reading (i.e. recreation vs. study).
Speed Reading classes will run Fall Semester. For more information, contact Donalyn at 626-6867.
