We will have 2 laptops available for use in the office, and 2 laptops to loan for up to three days. Please see the Equipment Loan & Use Policy below to see your responsibilities as a borrower. Come in to the office for more information on laptop availability and to borrow one. The computers are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Student Support Services EQUIPMENT LOAN & USE POLICY Effective summer 2008 and forward until changed Several laptop computers are available for check-out to SSS participants. These units are to be used in connection with college assignments and projects only. Prior to the first check-out you must sign the “Equipment Loan & Use Policy” form (one required per year) and present a valid WSU Wildcard or other form of picture ID. You may request a printed copy of this policy for your records or access it on the SSS website. Requests do not guarantee that equipment will be available for use. YOU are solely responsible for the equipment and all its components. You are responsible for knowing and following the rules set forth in this policy. Ignorance of these rules is not a basis for appeal. Ø Equipment must be kept secure at all times, should not be left in vehicles, and should be kept out of reach of children. Ø If damage or loss occurs while in your possession, you will be billed for the cost of repair or replacement (up to the full value of the equipment). If there is a loss, it will be treated as a theft and a security report will be filed. Ø Any charges related to the loss or damage of any equipment or its peripherals will be applied to your account at the Business Office within a few days of the equipment loan. Ø If you encounter technical problems, you are to report this to Pamela Nandkeshwar, 626-7009, as soon as possible. Ø WSU SSS reserves the right to revoke your check-out privileges for the remainder of the academic year if you abuse your privileges. Examples include (but are not limited to) late returns, leaving equipment unattended, physical damage, vandalism or illegal use. You must comply with WSU rules regarding approved use of university equipment as outlined in the Acceptable Use Policy. These policies can be found online at: http://documents.weber.edu/ppm/10-2.htm LAPTOP RULES 1. All files created with the laptop must be saved on a virus-free disk or flashdrive. No files should be saved on the hard drive. Files are deleted automatically when the laptop is shut off. SSS is not responsible for lost files, so save your work. No attempt should be made to download additional programs (academic or recreational) or change the laptop’s configuration. Violations will result in revocation of privileges. 2. Please be careful with the laptop; it can easily be stolen, and it can be damaged if left in the sun, allowed to get cold, or exposed to liquid. 3. We cannot guarantee that the battery pack is fully charged. 4. Finally, and most importantly, you are to return the laptop in the same condition in which it was checked out. Please be considerate of other students who may need to use the laptop next. I have read and agree to the above terms and conditions.
