Student Success Center - Assessment & Placement Policy

Developmental Course Progress Hold

What is it?

A registration hold due to not following WSU's Assessment & Placement Policy.

Why do I have this hold?

According to our records, you are not making satisfactory progress through your developmental courses at WSU so you are not compliant with this policy.

What is the Assessment & Placement Policy?

All students placed into developmental math and/or English courses must register for and make continuous progress in these courses every semester. This process must begin by your second semester at WSU.

What do I need to do to have this hold expired?

Step 1. Make sure you have current placement in math and English.
      a. Accuplacer test scores are valid for one calendar year and ACT/SAT scores are valid for two.
   b. Math courses expire as a pre-requisite after one year.
   c. If you are unsure of your placement, contact the Student Success Center at 801-626-6752 (option 5, then 1) and we will be pleased to assist you.

Step 2. If your placement in math and/or English has expired, you must take WSU's Accuplacer to determine placement before completing Step 3.
  a. Check your Wildcat e-mail account or mail box. We send letters and e-mails before placing this hold explaining which placement test or tests are required.
  b. Information on Accuplacer testing is available at weber.edu/accuplacer.
  c. Note: You do not need to take Accuplacer if your test scores are still valid (see Step 1).

Step 3. Complete the Assessment & Placement Policy information module. Click here to access the module.
   a. The module should take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
   b. You will need speakers or headphones. Hearing and/or sight impaired students can contact the Student Success Center to arrange for an accommodation.

When will my hold be expired?

Once you have completed the steps listed above, we will expire your registration hold by the end of the following business day. Check your eWeber portal and Wildcat e-mail account for updates. We will send you a detailed e-mail if there are any issues.

What if I'm currently enrolled in an equivalent math and/or English course at another institution?

Please send proof of enrollment to WSU's Student Success Center by fax, by mail or in person (see contact information below). This can be a current course schedule, and official letter of attendance, or any other document showing current enrollment dates.

You can check WSU's Transfer Guide to see if your transfer course has been articulated as an equivalent course.

Note: If you are planning on but haven't yet registered for an equivalent course, you must complete Step 3 listed above and provide the Student Success Center with proof of enrollment when you do enroll. Your hold will not be expired until we receive proof of enrollment.
