Early Alert Referral Service
Mission and Objectives
The mission of Weber State University's Early Alert Referral Service (EARS) is to connect WSU's undergraduate students facing academic difficulties with University resources that positively impact their academic success. This early intervention initiative of the Student Success Center provides students with helpful services, information, and referrals.
To support these students, EARS will be focusing on the following objectives and initiatives.
- Through EARS’ triage service, provide timely services, information, and/or referrals to individual students who contact EARS (or about whom EARS is contacted) and follow up on their progress to help them overcome their academic difficulties and let them know that Weber State University personnel care about their success.
- Through EARS’ formal initiatives that are collaborations with the Developmental English, Developmental Math, and First Year Experience programs (1) provide early intervention contact, information, and referrals to academically at-risk students referred to us by participating instructors, (2) follow up on students’ progress towards overcoming their academic difficulties and (3) let them know that Weber State University personnel care about their success. The formal initiatives will focus specifically on students who exhibit poor early attendance and/or poor early performance in Math 810, Math 950, Math 990, Math 1010, English 900, English 955, and UNIV 1105.
