INTERNATIONAL STUDENT INFORMATION SHEET
1. Please fill out the application (Print Clearly) and keep the second page for your reference.
2. Send a $45.00 USD international student application fee by check or money order payable to Weber State University.
3. We require a readable copy of the main page (1st page) of your passport that lists your name, date of birth and other important information.
4. Please fill out your Confidential Financial Statement and make sure that the amount of support required for one-year is verified by a letter as well as a bank statement from the banking institution that says the money is there for you to use. You can submit this letter and bank statement from any banking institution in the world. Please make sure that the amount being verified by the bank is listed in U.S. dollars.
5. We need transcripts, certificates and diplomas from all high schools, colleges, and universities previously attended to be official copies. To be considered official they can either be sent directly from the institution to us or from you if they are in a sealed envelope. The transcripts must show course work taken and marks earned. Please send them in the original language as well as an English translation if appropriate. Transcripts from English language training programs you may have attended are also required.
NOTE: If you wish to receive credit for college/university course work you have earned outside of the United States, you need to have your course work evaluated by a company that evaluates international transcripts. Upon your request a list can be sent to you showing companies that WSU accepts evaluation reports from.
Once you receive the evaluation report back from that company, please send or bring a copy of the report to the International Student Services office so that this information can be added to your student record.
6. If you want to apply for a graduate program here at WSU, you will need to apply with that program for admission in addition to applying to the university. You will be required to have your academic credentials evaluated and verified that you have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree. When we receive your credit evaluation report, we will let the graduate program know whether you have a bachelor’s degree or not. You will need to meet their admission requirements before we can issue an I-20.
7. If you are transferring from a college or university, within the United States, with 40 credit hours and a 2.5 GPA or higher, you are considered a transfer student. You will need to inform the school you are attending that you wish to transfer to Weber State University and submit a Transfer Authorization form. If you are transferring from a school outside of the U.S., you are considered a freshman until your credit evaluation report is received in the International Student Services office and entered into your student record.
8. A TOEFL score is not required for admission to WSU; however, if you do have a TOEFL score of 500 (173 computer based) or higher, you don’t have to take ESL courses. With no TOEFL score, or with a score below 500, you have to take an achievement test of your English level.
Once your file is complete with all of the above-named documents your file will be given to the Director of International Student Services, Mr. Morteza Emami. He will then evaluate your file for admission to Weber State University.
After Mr. Emami has evaluated your application for admission and makes his decision, an I-20 will be sent to the mailing address you have listed on the application (unless you tell us otherwise). If you don’t need an I-20 for any reason, please let us know that when you send your application to us. You will contact the International Student Services office once you arrive on campus and we will assist you while you are here at WSU. Our phone number is (801) 626-6853.
If you have questions, please contact me at (801) 626-6853 or fax us at 801-626-7693. We thank you for your interest in attending Weber State University.
Sincerely,
Haley Soto
