International Student Application Process

1. APPLICATION

Please fill out an International Student Application. (Print Clearly)

2. FEE

Please send a $65.00 non-refundable application fee by check or money order; payable to Weber State University. International students may not pay by credit card.

3. PASSPORT

Please provide a readable copy of the main page (1st page) of your passport that lists your name and date of birth.

4. FINANCIAL GUARANTEE – A Financial Guarantee consists of the following documents.

Bank Statement- Please provide a bank statement or a bank letter that indicates the required funds are available for your use. This document may NOT be faxed or printed from the internet; it must be printed on bank letter head with a signature and stamp from a bank official.

Financial Guarantee Form - Must be filled out by your sponsor, which is the person that provided your bank statement. The sponsor will need to fill out the form completely. If the bank statement is from your personal bank account then you will not need to fill out the Financial Guarantee.

5. EDUCATIONAL RECORDS

Please provide original or certified true copies of educational documents that show you have completed the equivalent of a U.S. high school education. Transcripts must show course work taken, marks earned and should indicate a date of completion. If the educational documents are not in English you will need to obtain a certified English translation. Please send them in the original language, as well as an Engl ish translation if appropriate. Transcripts from English language training programs that have been attended are also required.

NOTE: If you wish to receive credit for college/university course work you have earned outside of the United States, you need to have your course work evaluated by a credential evaluation company . Please make arrangements with the evaluation company to send an official copy of the evaluation report to the International Student Services office, so that this information can be added to your student record. 6. GRADUATE STUDENTS

In addition to the above requirements, graduate students will also need to apply to their graduate program and provide a letter of acceptance from that program as part of their International Student application. Your application will not be reviewed until you have provided proof of acceptance into a WSU graduate program. If your transfer credits are coming from an institution outside the U.S. please see the "Note" above for information.

7. TRANSFER STUDENTS

If you are transferring from a college or university, within the United States, with 30 credit hours and a 2.0 GPA or higher, you are considered a transfer student. You will need to inform the school you are attending that you wish to transfer to Weber State University and submit a Transfer Authorization form. If you are transferring from a school outside of the U.S., you are considered a freshman until your credit evaluation report is received in the International Student Services office and entered by the transfer evaluation office.

8. TOEFL

A TOEFL score is not required for admission to WSU. However, if you have a TOEFL score of at least 500 paper based, 173 computer based or 61 internet based, you will not be required to take ESL courses. If a TOEFL score is not provided or the provided score is below the scores indicated above, you will be required to take our English placement test. Based on the test results you may be required to register for ESL courses before entering your academic program.

When all of the required documents have been received your application will be reviewed. Upon acceptance, you will be mailed an acceptance packet to the address listed on your application. If you have special mailing instructions please indicated them on the application. The acceptance packet will include an acceptance letter, I-20, information regarding the I-901 fee, orientation and housing.
