EDUCATING RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGIST MID-LEVEL PRACTITIONERS SINCE 1996!! There are currently more than 325 graduates from this program. The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) determined that Weber State University RPA/RA Program was in compliance with the ARRT RA Recognition Criteria in July, 2007. The graduate of the WSU RPA/RA program will meet eligibility requirements and competencies to qualify for certification through the Certifying Board of the Radiology Practitioner Assistant (CBRPA) RPA examination and/or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) RA examination. For details of examination requirements and competencies please go to the following websites: During the 1990's, WSU Radiologic Sciences faculty met with several radiologists and designed the curriculum and admission requirements. In order to pursue this emphasis, you must have three years experience as an ARRT registered technologist, a recommendation from a supervising radiologist, and a health care facility which will allow you to complete the clinical requirements of the RPA/RA program. Before students begin the RPA/RA program they must: Complete General Education Requirements including Computer and Information Literacy Requirements.

Have a current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. This course of study is a Technology Enhanced Learning model. It is an instructor directed, organized and planned educational experience. You will use learning modules that contain specific educational objectives, learning experiences that are correlated to each objective and detailed instructions for each course. Courses require computer use including Internet access and e-mail. To obtain a BS degree, you must also complete the WSU general education requirements, a quality assurance course and RADTEC 4943 Baccalaureate Thesis or equivalent. The required courses below fulfill the major; no minor is required. You will be required to attend intensive classroom sessions on the WSU campus twice a semester to enhance the learning process and to provide faculty-student interaction. The program is 20 months, or five semesters in length; students will have to attend intensive class sessions on campus approximately 10 times. Students come to campus the first time for orientation to the program and for clarification of program requirements; thereafter, the students come to campus twice each semester. Classes are scheduled a year in advance so students can make work and travel arrangements.
