A Weber State University alumnus with an extensive political and business background, Steven E. Starks was appointed to the WSU Board of Trustees in 2009.
Starks is the executive vice president of the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies, where he has worked since February of 2007. As a member of the corporate advisory board, he oversees the group's insurance and advertising companies and is responsible for government relations, and mergers and acquisitions.
In addition to his business expertise, Starks also has political acumen. He managed the political campaigns of Rep. Rob Bishop and gubernatorial candidate Nolan Karras in addition to helping manage Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr.'s transition team and special initiatives office. Starks also served as managing director of the Utah Policy Partnership.
He also serves as a board member for The Road Home and is a member of WSU's Business Committee.
Starks graduated from Weber State University with a Bachelor of Integrated Studies in 2003. He was recognized with WSU's Outstanding Young Alumnus award in 2009.
He and his wife, Camilla, live in South Jordan, Utah, where they are busy raising their two daughters, Quincie and Esther.
