In fall of 2003, the newly organized WSU Planning Council identified four initiatives that were seen as priorities for Weber State University in the period from 2003 to 2005.

Those initiatives were:

Branding the institution by communicating the identity, quality and value of the Weber State experience to internal and external audiences.

Enhancing an institutional culture that supports the recruitment, retention and recognition of excellent faculty and staff through inclusiveness, collaboration and a focus on student sucess.

Improving student preparation, development and retention by focusing on a comprehensive experience during their first year of enrollment.

Fostering student engagement opportunities available for all students through collaborative scholarly activites between faculty and students; learning- and service-oriented opportunities with the community; a focus on life-long inquiry and learning; and support for a community of faculty scholars.
