Educators, employers, graduate and professional schools all understand the value of an undergraduate research experience. Consequently, the University Undergraduate Research Committee and the Office of Undergraduate Research have worked to provide these experiences to students throughout Weber State University. Students may use their award to cover personal stipend, supplies, equipment, travel expenses, and expenses related to attending conferences, professional meetings, etc. Grant Proposal Deadlines Performance/Conference Travel Grants Performance/Conference Travel Grants support students who have been invited to perform or to lead the presentation of their independent scholarly work at a professional or scholarly conference. The grants fund travel-related expenses, as well as normal conference registration. Travel Grants have no set deadline, however they must be submitted at least one month prior to the time when reservations need to be made. Only one student per project may be funded for travel. In-depth/Long-term Grants support substantial, in-depth projects that normally span several semesters or the summer. Priority is given to projects that culminate in an honors thesis or some other capstone product demonstrating a focused and intellectually rigorous perspective on the topic of interest. Proposals are reviewed by the Grant Review Sub-committee twice per semester. There is a $3500 budget limit and the budget may include a stipend. Semester/Exploratory Grants provide for smaller independent student projects including preliminary or exploratory research and follow-up expenses associated with larger projects. They are reviewed by the Grant Review Sub-committee two times per semester. There is a $1000 budget limit and the budget may NOT include a stipend. |
