Henry Luce Foundation   supports initiatives in higher education that either complement or fall outside the foundation's established categories of support.  Proposals may, but need not, respond to issues of broad concern for American higher education.  Grants are made three times a year.   Potential applicants should speak with foundation staff before sending letters or proposals to ascertain the interest of the foundation.  (FRR 1/7)

Kresge Foundation  supports organizations in the areas of higher education, health, humanities, human services and science.  The Kresge Foundation Science Initiative helps organizations purchase scientific equipment and raise endowment funds for its future maintenance and replacement.  (F&CGA 2/01)

Oprah's Angel Network "Use Your life Award"   honors someone who is using their life to improve the lives of others.    Each award recipient is granted $100,000 to continue and expand their work.   (F&CGA 12/00)

Lewis Preston Education Fund For Girls   supports groups from around the world with experience, expertise and capacity in improving girls' access to education and activities that have a direct and measurable impact on school-age girls.  (F&CGA 8/00)

NewDeal Foundation:  Computer Donations   donates computer hardware and software to promote computer literacy and provide Internet access to nonprofit organizations.  The Foundation's support includes the installation of its Discovery Media Labs, which are computer networks for organizations with limited access to high technology, and donations of software from NewDeal Inc. and other vendors who offer educational and office-based programs.  (FRR 2/25)

Ford Motor Company Fund  supports education, arts and humanities, civic activities, the environment, health and welfare, public policy and U.S.-international relations.  Education giving focuses on the post-secondary level.  Priorities include programs that strengthen the employee-school relationship; provide quality arts-related education programming; improve and expand enrichment programs; support research in science, the environment, math, healthcare and engineering; encourage education research; and enhance opportunities for minorities to pursue advanced degrees in manufacturing and technology.  (F&CGA 3/00)

NewDeal Foundation   promotes computer literacy and Internet access for all.  The foundation provides grants of computer labs and royalty-free donations of NewDeal and other software.  (F&CGA 4/00)

Arthur B. Schultz Foundation   supports national and international education, economic development and environmental conservation.   (F&CGA 10/00)

New York Life Foundation   supports health and human services, education, civic and community affairs and arts and culture.   Currently, the foundation is focusing its efforts on organizations, programs and services that target children, particularly in the areas of:  mentoring, safe places to learn and grow, after school and latchkey programs, educational enhancement, family-oriented programs, tutoring and remedial education.  (F&CGA 11/00)

J.C. Downing Foundation   supports innovative projects to empower human capabilities and enrich the environment.   Interested applicants should submit an initial letter of inquiry.  The foundation awards grants in the following fields:  education and human development; environmental research and preservation; fine arts; sports and athletics; and technology and communication.  (F&CGA 11/00)

NARA:  Historical Records   supports projects that focus on documentary publications, records projects, and other educational programs.  Emphasis is placed primarily on the dissemination, accessibility and preservation of historical records bearing on U.S. history and, secondly, to further the understanding and appreciation of U.S. history.  Awards fall in the following categories:  Educational Programs and Fellowships; Records grants; Electronic records Grants; Publication Grants; and State Boards Grants.  (FRR 12/22)

The Coca-Cola Foundation   encourages new solutions to countless problems that impede educational systems today, and it supports existing programs that work.  Because the challenges for education are so broad, the Foundation's commitment is multifaceted.  It offers support to public and private colleges and universities, elementary and secondary schools, teacher-training programs, educational programs for minority students and global educational programs.  The Coca-Cola Foundation devotes much of its efforts to three main areas:  higher education, classroom teaching and learning, and global education.  (Guidelines)

Novell Corporate Giving Program:  CYBERgrant   supports nonprofit organizations in developing and realizing their visions through the power of technology.  The mission of the apply organization must focus on education, the homeless and hungry or arts and culture and the grant request must include a strong technology component.  Proposals are reviewed on a continuous basis from January through October.  (F&CGA 4/01)

National Geographic Society   supports scientific field research and exploration.  Applications are accepted in the areas of anthropology, archaeology, astronomy, biology, botany, geography, geology, oceanography, paleontology and zoology.  Grants generally range from $15,000 to $20,000.   Applicants should have a Ph.D., be associated with an educational institution and have a minimum of three published articles in peer-reviewed journals.  (F&CGA 5/01)

Solectron funds organizations in the areas of education, health and human services, agencies for senior citizens, environment and ecology, civic and community and culture and the arts.  (F&CGA 8/01)

Blockbuster Inc. Corporate Contributions  supports programs that are somehow related to film and video and those that serve children and families.  Programs that support minority groups are of particular interest to the company.   (F&CGA  10/01)

Foundation For the Future:  Future of Humanity Research Programs  include all of the fields that may have a significant impact on the quality of human life during coming millennia.  Areas of interest within the physical and social sciences include, but are not limited to, research into the social, genetic, biological, medical, psychological, physiological, cultural, and environmental factors that may affect the quality of the human condition.   (Guidelines)

Foundation For the Future:  International Collaboration on the Future of Humanity  include projects that develop international collaboration through cooperative research, or those that enable individuals at smaller institutions to participate in international future of humanity research projects.    (Guidelines)
