Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation    supports the major health care issues facing the nation.  The Foundation funds a small number of unsolicited proposals each year.  (TGA 5/00)

Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality:  Conference Grants   supports conferences related to health services research.   AHRQ seeks to help develop health services research agendas and identify strategies for studying them; develop consensus around health services research methodological and technical issues; disseminate health services research information for formulating or evaluating health policy, managing health care programs, and using or purchasing health services; and develop partnerships with stakeholder organizations and build their capacity to participate in research activities and use the results of health services research.   (FRR 11/3)

Jacob and Valeria Langeloth Foundation    supports programs designed to humanize, improve, make more cost effective and promote physical and emotional recovery from illness, accident or other traumatic life-changing events.  No deadline for a brief letter of intent.  If interested the foundation will invite a full proposal to be due on December 1.   The proposal should have national impact or extensive replication.  (F&CGA 6/00)

AXA Foundation:  Eldercare   recognizes the emergence of eldercare as an important social issue and funds programs that provide critically needed information to people on matters related to caring for aging relatives.   AXA supports projects that assess the needs of family caregivers and produce and disseminate eldercare information and resources.  (Guidelines)

NIH:  Social and Cultural Dimensions of Health   provides support to (a) elucidate basic social and cultural constructs and processes used in health research,  (b) clarify social and cultural factors in the etiology and consequences of health and illness,  (c) link basic research to practice for improving prevention, treatment, health services, and dissemination, and  (d) explore ethical issues in social and cultural research.  The goal of this announcement is to encourage further development of health-related social sciences research relevant to the missions of the NIH Institutes and Centers.   (Guidelines)

NIH:  Women's Health in Sports and Exercise   supports proposals to study women's health in sports and exercise.  The purpose of this announcement is to stimulate and foster a wide range of basic, translational and patient-oriented clinical studies.  Improvement in our basic knowledge of the pathophysiology of sports injuries in women will help to solve the puzzle of why female athletes are more susceptible to certain types of injury.  In addition, translational studies will be helpful in developing optimal prevention, rehabilitation and training strategies for injuries and overuse syndromes in the female athlete throughout the life spectrum.   (Guidelines)
