A bachelor of science degree is offered to currently practicing clinical laboratory technicians seeking career advancement.

An associate of applied science degree is offered to individuals employed in health care laboratory facilities.

Certificates: The department offers an intensive certificate-of-completion program for students currently working in the healthcare industry.

What are the employment opportunities?

WSU’s pre-professional course requirements are specially integrated so that bachelor degree graduates are eligible to apply to medical, dental, veterinary and graduate schools.

Graduates work in medical administration, cytology, histology, industrial labs, education, computers in medicine, clinic laboratories, medical sales, medical research, forensics, hospital laboratories and more.

Starting Salary

Starting salaries vary depending on the region, workplace and skill level. The starting salary for a bachelor of science graduate is $37,000 or higher. The starting salary for an associate of applied science graduate is $30,000 or higher. This may vary depending on the region, workplace, skill level and previous work experience.

What will I learn in the program?

You will learn about and perform laboratory tests vital to detection, differential diagnosis, treatment and study of diseases. Additionally, you will learn to evaluate laboratory test results, correlate the results with patient information and problem solve.
