As you progress through the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences' four-year BS program, keep the following dates and deadlines in mind:
Freshman year
Fall semester (your first semester)
- Set up an appointment with a MLS faculty advisor. Discuss the requirements for acceptance into the AAS program.
Spring semester
- Complete application and deliver to MH 108, along with $25.00 check, for the AAS program before the April 1 deadline.
Sophomore year
Fall semester
- Complete Background Check and Drug Screen before end of the fall semester.
- Complete a MLS AAS graduation evaluation with the MLS program director.
- Check with program director about signing up for the certification exam (this should be started about three months prior to graduation).
Spring semester
- Register for MLS 2256 and MLS 2257, summer practicums will be scheduled through these courses.
- Apply for MLS AAS graduation.
- You can begin the application process for the certification exam, three months prior to your graduation and determine the deadline dates for those.
- Order a cap and gown at the WSU bookstore for the graduation ceremony (included in your graduation application fee).
- Apply for BS program if desired, by April 1st.
- Attend the MLS AAS graduation ceremony!
Summer semester
- Complete all contracted course and practicums required for graduation.
- Complete the MLT certification exam and send an official transcript to prove the completion of your degree and to receive an official notice of your scores.
Junior year
Spring semester
- Register for MLS 4453 and MLS 4454, summer practicums will be scheduled through these courses.
Senior year
Fall semester
- Complete a BS graduation evaluation with the MLS program director
- Check with the program director about signing up for the certification exam (this should be started about three months prior to graduation).
