2007 LYNX Self-Service & INB Upgrade Over Fall Break The WSU LYNX system is being upgraded to Banner Release 7.5 to provide additional functionality and features. LYNX administrative systems will be unavailable during Fall Break from Friday, October 19 - Sunday, October 21, 2007.
New Release of LYNX Security Workflow Security requests are used to gain access rights to areas of the LYNX/Banner administrative systems. Requesting security continues to be done through LYNX Self-service located in the Faculty/Staff portal. To apply for access, go to LYNX Self-service, then click "Personal Information;" click "Request LYNX Security;" and check boxes for the areas for which you need access. The request form will list what security, if any, for which you already have rights. You can request the same access as another employee by selecting their name from a drop-down list. The supervisor will receive an e-mail notifying them there are workflow items to approve. They must then click the link to go to the site to process the request or it will stall in the workflow.
ACCESS TO LYNX/BANNER SYSTEM VIA eWEBER - eWeber has been chosen to replace the Faculty/Staff, Student and Alumni portals. The Faculty/Staff Portal will move to eWeber in April, 2007. Because portals are so important, WSU chose a robust software with lots of uses and good vendor support. It is tightly integrated with WSU's LYNX/Banner information systems. eWeber easily helps you find information and interfaces with campus computer systems. It provides access to the LYNX/Banner system via shortcuts and single sign-on. Check out the new portal at http://weber.edu/eweber.

BANNER VERSION UPGRADE - This fall, campus will be upgrading its LYNX/Banner system to version 7.3. In preparation, Financial Services, Payroll, Student Enrollment Services, University Relations and other affected departments and teams are testing the version to ensure all goes well when the upgrade is implemented. The upgrade is scheduled to be applied October 7-8, with the following weekend as backup. Although most users will not notice any difference in the way they see or use LYNX/Banner, this upgrade will provide a more user-friendly format for users and more options to enhance customer services. Watch for enhancements that include Common Matching and Advancement (Alumni & Development).
The W Number - WSU has abandoned the use of the SSN as an identifier in conjunction with the implementation of LYNX/Banner. All students, staff, faculty, alumni and vendors have been assigned a new unique identifier in the new system. This is an eight digit number preceded by a W; for example, W00012345. This is the 'W' number and should never change for an individual. The 'W' number should not be confused with the Wildcat ID, which is the username prefix in the email address: waldowildcat@mail.weber.edu. In this instance, WaldoWildcat is the Wildcat ID. (See more below.) A student can locate their 'W' number in eWeber on the Personal Profile channel. A faculty/staff can locate their number in their portal by opening the Preferences page and viewing the Personal Information. SSNs still exist in LYNX/Banner but access to them is restricted to protect against identity theft and fraudulent use of the numbers. They are necessary to track for purposes of government reports, ACT and SAT score reports, and Financial Aid reports. All colleges and universities will continue to use SSN as a unique identifier.
LYNX/Banner Security Requests - An employee must submit a LYNX Security Request through the LYNX Self-Service area in order to gain access to the LYNX secure areas. To make the request or to add new security rights, do the following: 1. Log in to Faculty/Staff Portal. 2. Select LYNX Self-Service from the purple links bar. 3. Select Personal Information. 4. Select Request LYNX Security. 5. Enter the LYNX ID (W number) for which you are requesting security access 6. Highlight each LYNX Module for which the person needs security access. (Ctrl-click on multiple choices.) 7. Click SUBMIT.
Please note: Employees should be familiar with the LYNX/Banner system either through training in, or being registered for, LYNX Requisitions and Budget Queries classes. Some job functions will also require training in INB Navigation. The Department head is advised to contact Administrative Computing when an employee leaves the University to make sure the security rights have been rescinded for that employee.
Crystal Enterprise - Access to this reporting system is gained by a separate request to Lucas Jones at ljones3@weber.edu. Reports to your area of concern are available as a Crystal Report.
Wildcat ID - WSU has united each person's campus usernames and passwords into one Wildcat ID unique to that person. The University will be consolidating all online services in the new eWeber portal with access authenticated by the Wildcat ID. It is your personal and private key to electronic access to WSU to do your business online, anywhere and at any time. Top 10 Things You Can Do With A Wildcat ID: 1. Remember it! It is your e-mail address username so it's easy to remember. 2. Access eWeber. It is your logon ID for eWeber. 3. Change it. If you change your name, you can go to http://weber.edu/it/namechange to request your Wildcat ID username change. 4. Access GroupWise e-mail and calendar in eWeber. 5. Access Crystal Reports and Online Empoyee Training. 6. View campus messages and events. 7. Download campus software. 8. Manage course spreadsheets. 9. Access your WSU Online classes. 10.
