Electronic Payments

Campus Commerce Procedures

Touchnet Campus Commerce suite is the Weber State University standard for accepting electronic payments (e.g., credit cards, electronic checks, debit cards). The Touchnet system enables centralized institution control over payments and compliance with Gramm-Leach-Bliley legislation. Touchnet’s Payment Gateway is the hub of the system and enables secure connections for online credit card and e-check payments. The Touchnet Campus Commerce suite also includes Cashiering, Marketplace, Student Billing and Payment Plan modules. Touchnet is a Sungard SCT partner and interfaces directly with the WSU LYNX system.

Touchnet’s Marketplace enables campus departments to ‘sell’ memberships, courses, seminars, permits, conferences, event tickets, merchandise, and services on the internet and accept electronic payments for these items. Marketplace provides a framework for divisions and departments to set up and maintain their web-based ‘store’ while centralizing control of the technology and payments. It enables distribution of store content and management to groups and departments across campus.

Policy:

• The technology and payments will be controlled centrally by Information Technology and the WSU Treasurer's office, respectively.

• Each Vice President will identify a Director/Supervisor responsible for the development of web storefronts within their division. For example, Continuing Education will be the point for Academic Affairs. In some instances, Administrative Computing will develop web storefronts for departments with approval of the respective Vice President.

• The ‘web store’ content and management resides with the Division’s responsible party.
