HTHS 3410. Foundations of Health Science Technology (3)
The HTHS 3410 Foundations of Health Science Technology course will provide a scientific overview of the technology and medical devices for those students who would like to work in the medical sales industry. The course will examine equipment that is used for clinicians within Pharmacology, Radiology, Respiratory Therapy, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, and Dental Hygiene.
The course will provide the student with the knowledge necessary to understand each discipline and how clinicians in each discipline utilize the technology to treat patients and what criteria decision makers use to purchase the equipment from manufacturers representatives. The HTHS 3410 Foundations of Health Science Technology is a 3 credit hour upper-division course, and has no prior prerequisite.
HTHS 3412. Health Science Technology Applications (3)
The HTHS 3412 Health Science Technology Applications course will teach students the fundamental technological and pharmacological principles used in specific medical devices. The student will develop an understanding of different health science manufactures products and services and will recieve exposure to industry representatives. The HTHS 3412 Health Science Technology Applications is a 3 credit hour upper-division course, and HTHS 3410 must be taken as a prerequiste.
