Physical Education

A physical education degree prepares you for work in a physical activity venue by focusing on the scientific foundations of the field, or you can choose our teaching track to use the skills and knowledge you gain in a K-12 school system.

What You Can Do

Graduates with a bachelor’s degree go on to supervise and manage recreational programs, organize and direct intramural programs and teach in unique education environments such as alternative schools, charter schools and Job Corps. After completing a teaching track, graduates are qualified for the careers mentioned above and teaching physical education and/or coaching in public schools.

If you have a secondary physical education certificate, you can earn your dual certification to work in elementary schools.

A minor in physical education introduces you to a variety of activities to stay healthy and active and gives you physical education expertise for your career. You may choose our teaching track to apply your skills in a K-12 school setting.

Dual Minor in Physical Education and Coaching Education Teaching

Along with providing skills and knowledge in physical education, this program teaches you how to become an effective and motivational sports coach. Upon completion, you can use your physical education and coaching skills in a K-12 school system.

Secondary Physical Education Teachers for Elementary School Dual Certification

If you already hold a secondary physical education certificate, this program offers a dual certification to work in elementary schools.

Bachelor of Integrated Studies

WSU's Bachelor of Integrated Studies program allows you to earn your bachelor’s degree in three academic areas, including physical education.
 

A final capstone project is required, which will bring together your three areas of emphasis.
