HPHP Student Spotlight

Cait Miller is a senior majoring in Human Performance Management

What is your home town, and what is something interesting about it.

I've lived in Farmington, UT for almost twenty-one years! CNN ranked my small little
home-town as #12 on the top 100 places to live in the US.

Why did you choose to come to Weber State?

Weber State is great, greaaat, GREAT :) Also, because I was impressed by the
academic program and it is a family tradition.

Tell us your biggest accomplishment or favorite memory (or both) from your
  time at Weber State
.

My favorite memories at Weber State are just the funny, embarrassing ones. On the
first day of my freshman year, I remember getting to school and being so overwhelmed by the parking lot craziness and missing my first class that it brought me to tears- sad day! Also, one time I was rushing up the huge flight of stairs in HPHP and I tripped big time-like in the movies. The biggest accomplishment I have had at Weber State is just becoming a better person through the peers, professors, and people I've met here!

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I plan to go into one of the two following routes:

  1. Obtain my Masters Degree (possibly at USU in "Human Movement and Wellness") and then find a job as a adjunct university professor or employee wellness director
  2. Teaching Health/PE at a Junior High and become licensed with ARL

How do you like to spend your leisure time?

Oh boy, the better question is what do I NOT do with my leisure time! My favorite things include fashion designing and doodling, painting, crafts, writing on my blog, reading books in my tree house, photography, hiking in the mountains, traveling the world, cooking, going to school, playing the piano and singing, running 10k-marathon, being with my family, service projects, watching chick flicks, being in nature, wave runners on the lake, eating contests, being with kids, and trying new things.

Tell us about your activities outside of school (community service, hobbies, etc.)

Wait, I'm supposed to have a life outside of school? Ooops! Outside of school, I am a part-time nanny 20-35hours per week. I'm currently swimming and running as much as possible to train for my first triathlon. Mahatma Ghandi once said "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." Community service makes me happy and I try to stay involved on a weekly basis- whether it is volunteering in my older sister's classroom to planning sub-for-santa group dates. Other than those three things, I can be found with my nose in a textbook!

Tell us something interesting about yourself that we don’t know.

My favorite holiday is April Fools Day! :)
