HPHP Student Spotlight

Kaitlyn Ott is majoring in Health Promotion, with a minor in Neuroscience.

What is your home town, and what is something interesting about it?

I hail from the land of Centerville, where people protested the coming of Walmart. I don’t
know why, Walmart is the best.

Why did you choose to come to Weber State?

I followed a boy here, and then married him! And then I found out what a great school Weber
State is. I couldn’t have chosen a better school to get my undergrad in.

Tell us your biggest accomplishment or favorite memory (or both) from your time at
  Weber State

I’ve loved interning with the Student Wellness department. I’ve met so many awesome people
and I feel like I’ve really done some useful things to improve the health and well-being of the students here on campus.

What are your plans after graduation?

I’d love to work for the county or state in epidemiology. I love looking at numbers and the meanings behind them… I’m kind of a nerd for numbers.

How do you like to spend your leisure time?

I like to eat sushi with my husband, read any kind of fiction whether it’s sci-fi or historical, and watch TV and movies, and I’m kind of hooked on Dr. Who right now.

Tell us about your activities outside of school (community service, hobbies, etc)

I’ve recently been volunteering for a hospice company; it’s so cool to learn from people who have lived long and full lives. I also like to run, granted I’m really slow, but I run!

Tell us something interesting about yourself that we don’t know.

I have a piece of a cow heart inside my head. It’s kind of complicated, but basically my brain was slightly too big for my skull, so they took out some bone and put a patch on made from cow pericardium. Or you could just say that medically, I’ve got too much brain, which is pretty awesome.
