State Grants for Utah Residents

Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership (LEAP)

This grant is awarded to undergraduate students from Utah who have not earned a bachelor’s or a professional degree and have demonstrated substantial financial need. You can get between $400 and $1,000 a year, depending on your financial need.

Utah Centennial Opportunity Program for Education (UCOPE)

This grant awarded to undergraduate students from Utah who have not earned a bachelor’s or a professional degree. The award may be in the form of grants or student employment. The amount you receive depends on state funding for the program. A typical UCOPE award ranges from $400 to $1,000 a year, depending on your financial need and the funding level at WSU

Tier Grant (TIERG)

This grant is awarded to undergraduate students from Utah who are enrolled as a full-time student (12 hours per semester). The amount you may receive ranges depending on availablilty of funds and other financial need factors of each student. The annual range is $400 to $3,050.

Other State Aid

We encourage non-resident students to check with their home state higher education agency for funding that may be available. Contact your state higher education agency for more information.

 

 

Federal Grants

Federal Pell Grant

This grant is awarded to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor’s or a professional degree. The amount you receive depends on program funding. The actual amount you receive will depend on your financial need, your cost to attend WSU, your status as a full-time or part-time student and your plans to attend school for a full academic year or less.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG)

This is a grant for undergraduate students with exceptional financial need. The award priority goes to Pell Grant recipients with the lowest expected family contribution. Like Pell Grants, it does not have to be paid back. You can get between $400 and $1,000 a year, depending on when you apply, your financial need, and the funding level at WSU.  This grant is awarded only to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor’s or a professional degree.
