I teaching centers “soft rock” geology and covers the areas of Earth history, paleontology, sedimentation and stratigraphy, and paleoecology.

Research Interests

I have been doing field work in the Cretaceous nonmarine sequence of southern Utah for 27 years. I have focused my research on stratigraphy, correlation, paleoecology and microvertebrate faunas. I have my own field station outside of Bryce Canyon National Park and students participate in the field research every summer and have generated many undergraduate research projects.
