Employees may be granted leave with pay for a period of up to three working days in the event of a death in the immediate family. "Immediate family" is defined as: grandparent, parent, brother, sister, child, or grandchild of the employee or the employee's spouse (step-relatives in these categories are included).Additional days must be charged to vacation leave or leave without pay. Classified, professional/administrative, and executive employees working 50 percent of the time or more receive this leave on a prorated basis. (PPM 3-23)
