Is Their Injury an Emergency?

If their injury is an emergency, meaning there is a threat to life or limb, have someone take the person to the nearest emergency room or call 911. As the supervisor you should accompany the person to the emergency room.

Is Their Injury Due to a Blood Borne Exposure?

If their injury is due to a blood borne exposure send the person to the nearest emergency room.

Did Their Injury Occur in Utah?

  • Between 5:30 and 9:00 pm: Go to the Nearest IHC InstaCare. As the supervisor you should go with the person to IHC InstaCare. Click here to find an IHC InstaCare near you.

  • Between 9:00pm and 7:30am: first determine if your injury is an emergency or not:
    • If their injury is a non-emergency wait until 7:30am to go to the nearest Work Med. This will most likely save you time, because others who have a emergency will be seen before the employee. It will also prevent excessive costs and possibly some extra paperwork. As the supervisor you should go with the person to Work Med.
    • If their injury is an emergency have someone take them to the nearest emergency room or call 911. As the supervisor you should go with the person to the emergency room.

Did Their Injury Occur Outside of Utah?

Have the person go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 as the situation warrants. Use of the local phone book to find the location of the nearest emergency room.

What do I Need to Tell the Doctor?

When a person is treated for a work related injury tell the doctor the person was injured while working at Weber State University. Tell the doctor the person’s work duties so the doctor can determine if modified care is needed. It can be helpful to take a copy of the person’s job description with you.

What if They Don't Want to Seek Medical Attention?
