DUTIES:
To assist the Managing Editor and the Assignment Manager in assigning
and dispatching reporting crews, making beat checks, setting up
appointments, fielding phone calls and monitoring police, fire and other
emergency radio traffic. Write and update internet news stories. Must have
flexibility to work other shifts as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
College graduate, friendly phone manner; must be able to perform under
stress, write television copy and work with others under deadline pressure.

Graphic Artist Position
Job Summary
AccuColor Digital Printing, located in Clearfield, UT, is seeking a part- or full-time graphic artist/printer. Basic duties will include designing various documents for clients; printing jobs that come into the shop; and assisting customers w/ print/copy jobs. Schedule and pay are negotiable. No insurance benefits are available at this time. There is paid vacation as well as sick leave available for most employees.
Specific Duties Include:
- Graphic Design
Use Adobe programs to design creative and effective logos, business cards, brochures, postcards, flyers, banners, booklets, etc. for clients quickly and accurately under deadlines.
- Printing
Efficiently produce print jobs using knowledge of Konica Minolta and Canon printers, printer settings, and paper. Will also be responsible for print jobs involving variable data using PrintShop Mail and DirectSmile.
- Customer Service
Assist customers with all aspects of the shop: print, copy, fax, lamination, and binding. Must be willing to be interrupted from your work to help walk-ins. Will ring up customers and handle cash.
Job Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of computers. Both PC and Mac may be used.
- Formal training in Adobe programs listed below preferred.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Knowledge of Acrobat, InDesign, and PrintShop Mail also preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products such as Publisher.
- Excellent spelling and grammar skills, as well as organizational skills.
- Knowledge of basic printer settings. Prior experience with digital printers preferred.
- Required to put away paper after each print run.

6. Acts as an effect team member when generating revenue sales for the company.
7. Participates in weekly meetings with the immediate supervisor.
8. Train with various sales managers so that knowledge and abilities are up to date. This position will go through an initial two-week training period, and will be expected to continually train so that they are current in the practices of both industries.

11. Responsible to secure all necessary credit information about the advertiser. Also responsible for past due account collections.
12. Keep honest and accurate expense records. Complete approved expense reports in a timely manner (30-day maximum.)
13. Keep billing adjustments to a minimum.
14. Work toward maintaining unity within Local Sales team by assisting with promotions, productions and other areas of coordination for Local Sales.
15. Must sign a KSL Broadcast Group and KSL.com Account Executive Agreement form.

Position Objective:
Professionally photograph (using either a video or still camera) Southern Utah news events and features either self-assigned or assigned by the assignment desk; gather information and convert it into appropriate written, audio and/or digital format as assigned; to timely and safely drive to and from news events; correctly operate and assure it is maintained in good working condition all ENG camera/deck, automobile and other assigned gear including microwave equipment; develop and maintain a working knowledge of photographer/editor/live functions of the new Southern Utah bureau, satellite truck and helicopter; digital platforms, edit news video as needed. Set an example of professionalism in photographic skill, attitude and commitment; assist in training new photographers; willingly accept other reasonable duties and assignments from the Chief Photographer or DMC News Division management. All of the duties listed below apply but the primary focus of the job is to monitor public safety scanners, make phone calls to public safety departments and travel to scenes of KSL news interest. At events of news interest the job requires gathering information, shooting videotape and communicating with the producers and editors to effectively present the events on KSL news shows. Photographer duties will not be limited to the newsroom, and will require Photographer to travel to on-site story destinations. Story destinations are not limited to Southern Utah.
Position Requirements:
• Two (2) years post high school education in communications, journalism or related field or equivalent.
• Five (5) years previous commercial experience as a video photographer/editor, or equivalent.
• A sense of news value and be able to display creative abilities in photojournalism and video editing techniques. Audition tape may be required demonstrating accuracy, fairness and photojournalistic news style.
• Ability communicate a story visually through either video or still photography.
• Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Photo Mechanic and the sending digital still photos remotely.
• Ability to write basic caption information.
• Assist as needed, this could include doing a live shot, assisting other photographers with live shots, tuning in live shots, and editing.
• Consistently work hours required. Work more when required to meet deadlines including flexible shifts, weekends, holidays, evenings, rotating days, overtime, etc. Required to work extended hours as needed. Must have a telephone and fill on-call schedules as assigned. Able to remain on a particular assignment until completed.

This position provides clear and concise reports on traffic flows in Northern Utah and to screen KSL listener phone calls for traffic information.
1. Anchors drive traffic reports and others as scheduled by KSL NewsRadio.
2. Reports on traffic through use of Traffic Link System Commuter Link, camera setup, Cellular traffic reporting network and monitoring of police scanners.
3. 5am-1pm shift may include writing, interviewing, and other news duties as assigned by Program Director and News Director from 9am-12pm.
4. Has a thorough working knowledge and understanding of KSL policy and FCC rules and regulations.

Position Objective:
Shifts vary and may include day shifts (8am-5pm), or afternoon/evenings shifts (11:30am-7:00pm or 1:00pm-7pm)
Project a professional company image by answering all telephone calls promptly and courteously, channeling calls correctly, and announcing guests to appropriate party. Serve visitors by greeting, welcoming, and/or directing them. Accurately maintaining sign in/out log regarding arrival of visitors and incoming/outgoing merchandise. Adhere to company security policies regarding people entering and/or leaving the premises.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Welcome visitors and company personnel by greeting them in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
2. Answer and transfer telephone calls in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner; record accurate information when taking messages and following company guidelines; log and report complaint calls to the appropriate parties; report any phone problems to Help Desk; utilize email and voice mail systems.
3. Maintain security by following procedures: direct visitors to sign in/out; issue visitor with guest badge; direct visitor to waiting area; contact company personnel to greet and escort visitor.
4. Assure that items dropped off at desk are appropriately logged in/out, by monitoring and making sure that all columns on the log sheets are filled out properly and proper signatures obtained; initial upon receiving and presenting items. Assume responsibility for the safe keeping and distribution of above items, such as: tapes, memos, letters, etc., including locking all drawers/cabinets when closing desk each night.
5. Follow Emergency Procedures involving fire alarm, bomb threat and earthquakes, etc; coordinate any breach of security with Triad Command Center or Salt Lake Police Department, if necessary.
6. Continually upgrade personal knowledge of companies’ web sites and telecommunications systems including: phones, console operation, and computer programs; utilizing computer terminal and navigating through multiple systems. Be aware of ongoing operations involving Deseret Media companies in order to act as the key information center for the companies.
7. Maintain prizes by checking stock to determine inventory level; initial prizes logged in logbook; document location of prize into logbook; direct winner to sign for prize; initial that item has been picked up; check logbook to be aware of prizes available; verify prize is in the right location; assure prize cabinets are locked when closing desk each night. When unable to locate a prize, ask visitor/prize winner(s) to have a seat while you search for assistance. Assure that the company image is not tarnished by your frustration of not being able to locate appropriate party or prizes
8. When necessary, resolve problems by keeping visitor(s) calm while finding company personnel to assist regarding the issue.
9. Issue parking validations and log type of validation issued, department, date, and initial.
10. Improve programs by notifying Director of Human Resources of problems or concerns; providing recommendations and solutions. Contribute to ongoing improvement process.
11. Maintain complete knowledge of all department and company personnel functions. Learn names/departments/titles/responsibilities of company personnel. Be aware of current news stories and events in order to properly represent Deseret Media companies and their employees.
12. Maintain Company and client confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential, by not discussing internal Company matters with Company employees or outside acquaintances.
13. Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

Position Objective:
KSL Social Media Marketing internship is a 12 week paid opportunity ($10/hour). We are seeking an individual with a strong interest in internet communications as it relates to Marketing. You will have an opportunity to be involved with the daily operations of the KSL Marketing and Promotions team, and will work with KSL and Radio Social Team to implement social strategies from community partnerships, contesting etc.
Assignments might include: contributing and researching promotional ideas; assist in planning social media campaigns; monitor, measure and report on social media campaigns to gauge effectiveness; involvement and participation in station events; execute social strategies and promotions; updating daily website content; and daily involvement with station marketing activities.

• Proficiency in Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Youtube, Eblast, Web etc.
• Prefer someone working toward a career in new media, social or broadcast communications (marketing and promotions).
• Schedule TBD – 20 hours per week M-F

Position Objective:
Looking for a dynamic anchor/reporter with strong communication skills both at the desk and the ability to report/anchor from the field. The successful candidate will have the skill and knowledge to conduct in-depth interviews (live and taped), and be able to execute compelling storytelling on multiple-platforms. The ideal candidate will be able to easily adapt and lead in the changing media landscape. This position will anchor and report news for KSL Television news for assigned newscasts as well as any special reports including bulletins, documentaries, series and investigative reports.
1. To timely, accurately and fairly conceptualize stories for Television presentation. This may include writing; producing and stand-up reporting stories for either tape/audio or live camera.
2. Willing and able to cover any story assigned -- organize, write, edit and anchor strong news feature stories within deadlines and to meet newscast time constraints.
3. Enunciate clearly and exhibit the ability to interpret and read copy fluently. Organize and perform work-assuring follow-through while functioning as a member of the KSL Television News Team.
4. Meet "on-call" requirements -- work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
5. Act in a professional and courteous way and dress appropriately for the event being covered.
6. Maintain a professional and helpful attitude towards other staff members at all times.
7. Valid driver's license and proven ability to safely drive company vehicle or personal vehicle (as case may be) without exposing the company to serious liability risks.
8. Actively help keep KSL on the competitive edge by contributing creative ideas on show development, format execution, etc. and effectively implement constructive feedback.
9. Attend evaluation sessions and staff meetings as required.
10. Fill in for other anchor/reporter as assigned.
11. Reflect company values and maintain desired KSL image to listeners while on-air and during personal appearances.
12. Maintain confidentiality in regard to personnel matters, wage and salary, company strategies, and other sensitive matters in communicating with listeners, co-workers and the media.
13. Able to manage stress effectively.
14. Develop and maintain professional journalistic capabilities in order to make full use of the tools and opportunities provided by the station and to expand personal contribution to the company.
15. Work in compliance with Company policies and procedures.
16. Work effectively in a team environment.
17. Maintain a positive and cooperative rapport with staff, management, and clients.
18. Consistently works hours required. Works more when required to meet deadlines including weekends, holidays, evenings, old shifts, etc.

Position Requirements:
• College degree in journalism, communications, related field or equivalent.
• Minimum of four (4) years commercial broadcast journalism anchoring and reporting experience, or equivalent. Proven record of anchor/reporter success should include the following:
§ Ability to create and maintain ratings performance, job stability and leadership within the community;
§ Being well-read, knowledgeable and articulate in dealing with current affairs;
§ Ability to effectively project a variety of characteristics, such as spontaneity, good judgment and sensitivity;
§ Ability to work effectively and work with other professionals on the anchor team to create a unique broadcast;
§ Ability to maintain a maximum quality and professionalism to build audience share, with excellent judgment;
§ Ability to offer creative input into news show elements;
§ Willing and able to commit to personal growth through continual training, coaching and feedback;
§ Ability to accept direction and be flexible with company and industry changes;
• Able to conceptualize and organize stories for Television presentation. Able to write, edit, produce, anchor and stand-up report strong news feature stories for audio, tape or live camera in a fast and concise manner under pressure. Demonstrate ability to report and/or anchor live ad-lib unscripted news reports with continuity, meaning and clarity. Proven ability for accuracy and follow-through.
• Acceptable on-air presence including well screen appearance, professional demeanor and voice quality, which exudes confidence and relates effectively with other on-air anchors.
• Able to enunciate clearly and have the ability to interpret and read copy fluently.
• Goal-oriented, self-motivated individual who can effectively organize and perform work-assuring follow-through while functioning as a member of the KSL Television News Team.
• An in-house audition covering a story and writing a report under the direction of KSL-TV News may be required.
• Willing to sign a contractual agreement.
• Willingness to accept responsibility and work under minimal supervision. Ability to use owns initiative and show innovation in problem solving.
• Self-starter, capable of performing under pressure particularly during peak hours to meet job deadlines as the services performed affect the ability of others in the department to do their work.
• Willingness to travel on the company's behalf.
