Position: Assistant Professor, Computer Science.
Degree: 2006 – PhD in Electrical Engineering, West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV; 1998 – M.E. in Electrical Engineering, Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China; 1996 - B.E. in Electrical Engineering, Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China.
Current Field of Study: My major research area is biomedical image processing. My interest on image processing is mainly inspired by the curiosity about the process of from images to knowledge, hoping that technological innovations may lead to interesting scientific discoveries and improvement of health care systems. My other research interests include multimedia data processing and compression, pattern recognition, bioinformatics, computer vision, and data mining.
Biggest Accomplishment in CS: I am very proud to have the opportunity to collaborate with Dr. Jeff Lichtman, Dr. Bernardo Sabatini (both from Harvard University), and Dr. Paul Greengard (from the Rockefeller University and the Nobel Prize winner in 2000), on studying how to apply Computer Science technology to the field of Neuroscience. Our research is deemed critical to improve research on neuron related diseases as well as fundamental study of mathematical modeling of biological structures. My work has been published more than 16 times in the most prestigious international journals in the field including NeuroImage, Pattern Recognition, IEEE Trans on Image Processing, IEEE Trans on Medical Imaging, Neural Computation, and Journal of Neuroscience Methods. I also had the opportunity to work with the most talented researchers and engineers in world-class research institutes, including Harvard Medical School and IBM Almaden Research Center.
Something Interesting: I'm a fan of technology and a running lover.
