![]() Contact Information for Dr. David Ferro Email: dferro@weber.edu Personal Biography Position: Assistant Professor Degree: 1985- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science from the University of Lowell. Current Field of Study: My interests are varied. Among others: User interface design, software engineering culture, computer history, embedded programming, network security. Biggest Accomplishment in CS: I've done a lot of interesting stuff. I paid my way through college creating educational video games for the Atari 400 and Apple II. My first job out of college I worked on integrating a database into a bar code reader directed conveyer belt system for warehouse recieving and storage for LL Bean. My job at Unisys also had some fascinating elements in research into multi-model interfaces (pen, speech, keyboard). One project had me working with aphasiacs - individuals who have had a brain injury that limits their language ability - to examine how unique computer applications using voice recognition can retrain the brain for language. Something Interesting: I was born and reared on the north shore of Boston. I mispent most of the summers of my first 30 years simply messing about in sail boats. Today I hike, ski, work, and generally mess about with my wife and daughter. |
