Harold W. Ritchey Lecture Series

On Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 7:00pm in LL 125-126, Dr. Ian Tattersall will give a presentation entitled “Becoming Human”. This lecture will commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin and the 150th anniversary of his monumental publication “On the Origin of Species”. It is being sponsored by the Office of the Provost, and the College of Science Ritchey Lecture Series. It is free and open to the public.

Dr. Tattersall is a Curator of Anthropology at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. He has made numerous contributions to the study of human evolution. Dr. Tattersall is recognized as a leading authority on lemurs, and has led many scientific expeditions in Madagascar. His books include “The Monkey in the Mirror” and “ Becoming Human: Evolution and Human Uniqueness”.
