Double Major: Early Childhood and Elementary Education

What does the double major offer?

The combination of these two programs allows you the flexibility of teaching pre-kindergarten through sixth grade and increases your job potential because you will have two licenses - Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. You will follow the Early Childhood Education curriculum and student teach in the primary and elementary grades in Level 4. Early consultation with an advisor is advised.

What are the employment opportunities?

 When you complete all requirements for both majors, which include only one semester of student teaching EDUC 4840 you will be prepared to teach in programs that serve children from infancy through sixth grade. Most graduates take positions in public school kindergarten or primary classrooms.

What are the starting salaries for graduates?

The starting salary is $35,000 plus with the potential of increasing with several years of service and additional education.

What will I learn in the program?

You will learn and apply principles and theories of educating young children through developmentally appropriate practices.
