WELCOME TO ELEMENTARY LEVEL 2
In Level 2, the candidates will have the opportunity to apply skills and knowledge learned in level 1 and support courses during both the university class time and during a 10 day field experience. Candidates will use their teacher work sample to design, implement and assess their lessons.
Level 2 Objectives, Outcomes and Assessments
Courses
Level 2 consist of (4) content method classes:
- Educ 3200E Foundations of Diversity: Culturally/Linguistically Responsive Teaching
- Educ 3240 Reading Instruction in the Intermediate Grades
- Educ 3260 The Exceptional Student
- Educ 3280 Elementary Social Studies Methods
Candidates will be introduced to strategies and methods for teaching ALL students in these classes.
Field Experience
During Level 2, you will be provided the opportunity to apply what you have learned in all your classes in a real setting. You are expected, in collaboration with your assigned collaborating teacher, to develop a minimum 5-day teacher work sample that integrates social studies and reading with appropriate adaptations and modifications for special needs and culturally/linguistically diverse students.
