What are the employment opportunities?
Bachelor degree graduates are hired as field engineers, tooling engineers, production engineers and quality personnel for companies such as AutoLiv, Boeing, Beckton Dickinson, Lockheed Martin, Parker Hannifin and Thiokol, as well as a variety of small companies.
Associate degree graduates are qualified for a variety of positions in industry, particularly in machining, inspection and other manufacturing related jobs.
Starting salaries vary depending on the region, workplace and skill level. Associate graduates can expect to receive starting salaries that range from $20,000-$26,000 per year. Bachelor degree graduates typically receive offers starting at $42,500. Some bachelor degree graduates with industry experience have received offers of $50,000 plus. What will I learn in the program?
You will learn about all aspects of manufacturing. Specific topics include computer-aided drafting and solids modeling, materials and processes, machining, plastics and composites, production methods and supervision, Six Sigma quality tools and methods, rapid prototyping and automation, including robotics and PLC programming. In the bachelor degree program, you will complete a senior project which will involve the design and manufacture of a finished product. These projects often include developing and building production equipment for industry.
