What are the employment opportunities?

Computer-related jobs are growing faster than any other jobs in the country, a trend expected to continue for the forseeable future. There are vast numbers of job openings for individuals with the skills and abilities obtained in this program.

In the past, employers hired computer personnel with either a software or hardware background. In today's job market, however, there is an accelerating need for specialists with skills in programming, including real-time operating systems; in hardware, including chip-level and board-level design; in systems development and integration; and in networks of various types and the associated protocols for transferring packets of information and data.

A CET graduate can work in many areas, including designing and/or implementing embedded systems, automated systems or parts of these systems.

Starting Salary
Starting salaries vary depending on the region, workplace and skill level. A student completing a bachlelor's degree can expect an average starting salary in excess of $45,000 per year. A graduate with an associate degree can expect to earn $20,000-$30,000 per year. Many students complete their associate's degrees and then partner with their employers to complete their bachelor's degrees. For more information, go to Career Services.

    

What will I learn in the program?

You will learn to design and implement embedded computer systems, to configure and build automated control systems, and to integrate these systems into the latest environments.

You will learn through hands-on experience in both the laboratory and projects learning environments to design and implement embedded computer systems, to configure and build automated control systems, and to integrate these systems

You will have the opportunity to certify in Network+ and A+, as well as other Microsoft certification. These credentials, along with a strong foundation in programming and electronics, will prepare you for the leading-edge jobs of the future.
