Dr. Bill Clapp is the chair of the CEET department. He is the department adviser so please go see him. Bill also serves as the chief engineer for Weber's KWCR radio station. He is a retired AF Reserves Colonel and served as a scientist for Air Force Research Laboratory. Bill earned his doctorate (EdD) in Educational Leadership from BYU. Bill's special interest is engineering ethics and has conducted personal research to better prepare our graduates. Go see him now.
Steve started with WeberStateUniversity in Continuing
Education with the computer software certification program, where he was
introduced to the CEET department. His primary
emphasis is in computer architecture and PC hardware, providing an introduction
to Computer Engineering Technology. Most of his time is spent in the PC
fundamentals lab reworking hardware to make it work for the next class.

Before coming to Weber State University, Verne completed both a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Master of Electrical Engineering from Brigham Young University. With 14 years of experience in private industry, he has a wealth of knowledge concerning instrumentations techniques. His current interests are in the areas of applied digital signal processing, embedded controllers and real-time operating systems, and pipe organs. He current consulting for Kimber Kable a manufacturer of high-end cables for audio interconnect, loudspeakers, and power cords. (Yes! The cables really do make the sound better, even to the casual listener.) He sang in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for five years and is currently building a nine-rank pipe organ in my home. He also enjoy playing organ and piano music, and singing songs while he play his banjo.
Justin B. Jackson is an Instructor in the Computer and Electronics Engineering Technology department. Justin is currently completing a Ph.D. at the University of Utah in Electrical Engineering with a focus in electronic materials. Justin also holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Weber State University and a Masters of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from the University of Utah. Justin is also a graduate of the Weber State University Bachelors of Science in Electronic Engineering Technology program. Justin's teaching interests include: Digital, FPGA, ASIC, and VLSI design along with semiconductor physics and devices.
In 1986, Julie received a Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering Technology from Weber State University. Over the past 15 years she worked out in industry as an automation engineer/project engineer for Unisys, Autoliv and Bourns. In 2005, she completed a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Teaching from Weber State University. Fall 2005, Julie began teaching in the Computer and Electronics Engineering Department at Weber State University and is currently working on a Masters of Engineering at Arizona State University.

Dr. Jay Smith, who would rather be called Jay or Dr. Jay, began his life-long pursuit of scientific understanding with his amateur radio license while in junior high school. Since then, he has designed and built animatronic robots for Disney, new technologies for biomedical instrumentation, satellites for NASA and the Department of Defense, and was the lead systems engineer for the first commercial space station.
Dr. Jay’s love of science, engineering, and teaching has lead him to work with universities and industrial partners in Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Israel, Germany, Brazil, England, Russia, and a dozen States in the U.S. Current interests include theatrical production, foreign languages, learning psychology, and advanced physics. He loves to tell stories and no one leaves his office without hearing at least one.

Prior to
joining Weber State University,
Jeffrey worked as a research
assistant for Utah State
University while earning a
doctorate in electrical
engineering. He currently
enjoys teaching courses in
analog circuitry. And when time
allows he can still be found
doing some numerical and
physical experiments with
antennas in the plasma
environment.
