FOREIGN LANGUAGES AND LITERATURES
College of Arts & Humanities
|
What can I do with a degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures?
A degree in
foreign languages and literatures prepares you for a career in international business,
government, medicine, social work, military service, law enforcement,
legal firms, teaching, interpreting, travel and the arts.
A
number of recent foreign language graduates have earned advanced
degrees in languages, law, medicine and dentistry at such institutions
as University of Pennsylvania, Penn State University, Indiana University,
University of Kansas, University of Arizona, Arizona State University,
University of Nevada-Reno, University of Colorado and University of
Utah.
Surrounding school districts hire almost all WSU graduates who
are language teaching majors and minors.
What will I learn?
When you complete the study of foreign languages, cultures and literatures, you'll
learn forms of speech and demeanor appropriate for other cultures and
will have the skills you need to work in a variety of settings where
English is not spoken.
Whether you've never studied a language before, or if you've had experience speaking a language, you can feel comfortable in this major.
You'll learn from professors and fellow classmates who have lived in countries where the language you're studying is spoken.
You'll also have opportunities to study abroad in France, Germany, Costa Rica, Mexico and Spain.

- Bachelor’s degree (major and minor)
