Botany Student Handbook

Requirements for the Botany Minor/BIS Emphasis

The Botany minor has been chosen by students with a wide range of majors, including English, Geography, Geology, Applied Environmental Geoscience, and Zoology.  Students who minor or do a Bachelor of Integrated Studies emphasis in Botany must have an overall GPA of 2.00 in all courses required for the minor/BIS.  BTNYSI2104 and SI2114 provide an overview of the field of Botany.  One or both of these two courses is a prerequisite for all upper division courses in the department.  Students should take BTNY2600 (or the same numbered course offered in Chemistry, Geosciences, Microbiology, and Physics) prior to or concurrently with their first lab course.  BTNYDV2303 enables Botany minors/BIS to meet the university diversity requirement within the minor or BIS emphasis area.

In being associated with the Botany Department, the faculty expect students to meet the department's Expectations of Students.
