Transfer Financial Aid & Scholarships


Tuition and Fees

-    Tuition is established by the Utah State Board of Regents and is subject to change without notice
-    Full-time students (12 – 18 credit hours) are assessed full tuition
-    Part-time students (less than 12 credit hours) are assessed on a per credit hour basis

Tuition Payment Schedule

-    Tuition and fees may be paid by cash, check, VISA, Discover, or Mastercard
-    A tuition payment plan is available to help students who are not able to pay in full when tuition is due. Instead of one large payment, tuition is broken down into equal monthly payments.
o    The WSU’s Cashier’s Office will be offering payment plans all year, including summer semester. Call (801) 626-8006 for details.
o    Students should make arrangements to participate in a tuition payment plan at least 2 months prior to the beginning of each semester.

Refunds

The refund schedule is set by the Utah State Board of Regents:
    
-    100% prior to the first week of school
-    100% during the first week of school
-    70% during the second week of school
-    50% during the third week of school
-    No Refunds after the first three weeks of the semester
-    A $16.50 non-refundable processing fee is assessed for all refunds.

Fees

-    Developmental Course Fee: Students who do not meet the requirements for enrollment in English EN1010 and Math QL1030 – QL 1080 will be charged an additional fee for each semester they are enrolled at WSU until these requirements are met. Further information is available from
Academic Support Services, Student Service Center, room 160 or call (801) 626-7847.
-    Course Fee:  Some courses require additional fees for materials and/or resources
-    Surcharge: Students who exceed 135% of the credits required for completion of their baccalaureate degree will be charged the full cost of instruction. For example, a student whose program of study requires 126 semester credit hours will be allowed a maximum of 170 semester hours in which to complete the degree requirements. Any work beyond the allowed 135% will be charged an additional $60 per credit.

Eligibility Requirements


-    Meet admissions requirements of WSU.
-    Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a program that leads to a degree or a certificate at WSU
-    Be a U.S. Citizen, permanent resident, or other eligible non-citizen
-    Be registered with the Selective Service, if required
-    Sign a Statement of Educational Purpose/Certification outlining refund and default penalties
-    Be in good standing (not in default) on any student loans, federal loan or grant
-    Maintain satisfactory academic standing
-    Have a correct Social Security Number

How to Apply for Financial Aid

The early application deadline is March 1st of each year; this does not guarantee the receipt of any specific type or types of grants. Applications received after the deadline will be processed as quickly as possible with no guarantee that the award will be ready to meet fall semester tuition and fees payment deadlines.

The WSU Financial Aid code is 003680. This code will be needed to complete your application.
1.    Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Renewal Application (for continuing students) online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov (print a copy for your records)
2.    Complete the WSU Supplemental Application for Financial Aid form
3.    Submit a copy of the student’s personal 1040 tax return, if filed, and spouse and/or parents’ 1040 forms, if applicable

Transferring Financial Aid


If you were receiving financial aid at your previous institution and would like that application to be transferred over to Weber State, you will need to complete the following:

1. Go online to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at
http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.
2. Enter Weber State University or WSU’s school code (003680) on to your application
3. Complete the Weber State Financial Aid application online at www.weber.edu
    - Current Student
     - Enter Wildcat Account and Password
    - Student Services
    - Financial Aid
    - Financial Aid Application
4. Check status online, following steps outlined above in step 3.

5. Accept your Financial Aid online

Transfer Student Scholarships

Prior to applying for scholarships, you must complete the admissions process. For information about the admissions process, click here (Admissions Process Link).

All scholarship applications are due by February 1st each year.

Available Scholarships

Academic:

-    The academic scholarships are based on your cumulative GPA from your transfer work. The minimum required grade point average will vary, depending on number of applicants and the average GPAs of the applicants.

High Honors/Honors Transfer Scholarship:

-    Awarded to transfer students for their first year at WSU
-    Based on leadership and community involvement
-    One-year (2 semester) waiver of half in-state tuition
-    Must maintain full-time status, a 2.5 TPA and be active in Student Government/Activities

Financial Need-Based Scholarships:

-    Awarded to students with financial need
-    To receive priority consideration for need based scholarships, you must apply for Federal Financial Aid by submitting the
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before the March 1st deadline. Verification for need based scholarships must reach the Scholarship Office by June 1st.
