Accuplacer

The Lampros Hall Testing Center is the primary location for the Accuplacer test.  Please direct questions to that center at 626-6645.

What is Accuplacer?

Accuplacer is a placement test that consists of Math, Reading Comprehension, and
Sentence Skills.  WSU requires students whose ACT Math scores are below 22, or whose
Math score has expired after two years, to take Accuplacer before registration.  Students
with no ACT English scores are also required to take the Reading Comprehension and
and Sentence Skills before they will be able to register.

How much does it cost?

The math exam costs $10.00.  The Reading Comprehension and Sentence Skills cost
$5.00 each.

How long does it take?

Tests are not timed. The average length is an hour for each test, but can be shorter or longer depending on the individual taking the test.

How do I get my test results?

Test results will be received immediately, although registration holds will not be removed
until the next morning.

Who do I speak with about a hold on my registration?

Holds are generally expired the next business morning after the test is taken.  Lampros
Hall is the Accuplacer center.  Questions about registration holds should be directed to
Terry Wright at 626-6645 or twright@weber.edu.

What do I need to bring to take accuplacer?

A picture ID and a "W number" are required.  Calculators are not allowed, but scratch
paper will be provided.

What is my "W number"?

The "W number" is the ID assigned to a student when they are admitted.  It is printed
on Admissions and Registration material.  When entering the number into Accuplacer, be
sure to use a capitol "W" and use zeros not Os.  Please be sure your "W number" is correct so that your information can be entered onto Banner.

When may I take Accuplacer?

The test is given up until 1 hour before the closing at that particular testing center.
Please check the hours on this website.  No appointment is necessary. No Accuplacer tests will be given during the week of finals. December 5th, thru the 10th, 2009.

May I take Accuplacer at another institution?

The particular Accuplacer format used by WSU is designed for our placement system.  For this reason,
we cannot accept Accuplacer results from other institutions.  The only exceptions are Davis Applied
Technology Center and Ogden/Weber Technology Center where you must specify you are taking the
exam for Weber State.

What if I live out of state or more than 50 miles from any WSU campus?

In the case of living more than 50 miles from a WSU campus, you may have the exam set up at
another school.  The selected school will be given password access to our test units from the internet.
The results will be automatically downloaded to our system when you complete the exam.
