Enrollment: A third week enrollment report was distributed and discussed. Budget related enrollment is up 5.4% for fall semester.
Student Advising and Major Declaration: Discussion was a continuation of the June deans retreat. Results of deans’ conversations with students regarding declaring a major were discussed. Ideas and plans were advanced for students who have not declared a major or who need to seek advisement. A task force is being formed to develop a campaign encouraging students to seek advice from an advisor. Sharon Aiken-Wisniewski will chair this group. Membership will include Bruce Bowen, Richard Sadler, and Lydia Wingate. It is hoped this campaign will lead up to the Major Fest scheduled for October 31st from 9AM to 2PM.
Centralized Scheduling (Winslow Hurst and Jennifer Evans, Guests): A progress report was given on the new AdAstra software which will help ease room scheduling. Training for room schedulers will begin in November. Plans are for this software to be implemented with the schedule entries for Fall 2002.
Program Review Process: Kathleen Lukken distributed a summary of program review plans. This was a continuation of discussions from the September 5th meeting. Selection of faculty membership for the program review group should proceed. Deans with programs concluding the review process should bring materials for distribution at the October 3rd deans council.
Dr. Richard Light: Dr. Light will be on campus Tuesday, September 25th. There has been a tremendous response to his visit. The schedule for Dr. Light’s sessions will be sent by email for Deans to forward to their Chairs.
Meeting adjourned 3:58 p.m.
